Death God is a powerful industrial song about being overcome by the sudden death of someone you love passionately. Representing the place you find yourself after that loss, looking up in grief and realizing the power of death over the course of your life, calling Death God. I wrote this song about my own experience in losing someone suddenly and have often performed it in the club that we spent our last times together. This song is deeply personal, powerful and raw in it's emotions.
It's a complicated composition involving an intricately planned vocal effect that adds to the breakdown where a tantric style breath practice begins to mimic the rhythm until the the lyrics come back again. Because of the dark nature of the sound and the topic I've gotten a strong reaction from show goers saying that it's reminiscent of Skinny Puppy and that it was spellbinding to see performed live.

You Death God, your reign.
Cracked open - eat my pain.
Sew me up, pray that it stops.
Cracked open - let me drop.
You're gone for so long.
Roads stretch for so long
It doesn't matter, nothing's new.
Over and over - nothing's new.
You make my black heart scar.
Over and over - no moon no stars.
You're gone for so long
Roads stretch for so long
This song has an allusion to a song I recorded in 2005 after the event of my cohorts death took place. It was a song I wrote for him, while alive, that he heard before he died and has become a part of the history of my life. It's very different from what I'm writing now, in fact, it's an acoustic song with only a shaky voice (recorded 3 days after his death) and a guitar. Now you know the whole story!
